Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if we will be a good fit?

I have experience working with clients from all walks of life with a broad range of concerns. Please reach out for a consultation, regardless of your unique situation, to see if we could be a good fit. If it seems like your needs would be better served by a different therapist or provider, I will help you explore referral options.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your session will allow us to get to know each other and discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. We'll talk about your goals, concerns, and any background information that might be relevant to your treatment. It's a collaborative process, and I will encourage you to ask any questions about the therapy process or my approach. This session is designed to establish a strong foundation for future work.

Do you specialize in any particular type of therapy?

Yes, I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for work with individuals, and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy for work with couples. I tailor my approach to the unique needs of each client, and have training in several additional evidence-based therapy modalities. If you're unsure whether your concerns match my skillset, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss how my approach could best support you.

How long will I need therapy?

The duration of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients see improvement in a few sessions, while others may need longer-term support. During our sessions, we’ll regularly assess your progress openly and collaboratively, and adjust your treatment plan to ensure you’re receiving the support you need. Together, we’ll decide on the best timeline based on your goals.

How do you handle confidentiality?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share with me in sessions will remain private, with a few exceptions. We will review these limits during our first session to ensure you understand how confidentiality works in therapy.

What happens if I need support between sessions?

I am not available for 24/7 emergency support. In case of urgent need, I encourage you to contact a crisis hotline or visit the nearest emergency room.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an exploratory phone consultation by contacting me directly via email. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible to confirm a time that works for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you miss an appointment without prior notice, you are responsible for the cost of the session. This policy helps ensure that time slots can be made available to other clients who may need them.
