Frequently Asked Questions

Why a Cash-Based Practice?

In my practice, I have chosen to work on a cash-only basis rather than through insurance providers. This decision allows me to offer clients several unique advantages that may not be available in a traditional insurance-based model.

For Clients:

  • More Control: With a cash-only model, you and I have the freedom to tailor your therapy sessions to your specific needs, without the limitations or approvals from insurance companies.

  • Privacy: Your treatment is fully confidential, without the need to disclose your diagnosis to an insurance company.

  • Clear and Transparent Pricing: No surprises or hidden fees—what you see is what you pay.

  • Flexible Scheduling: We can work together to find times that fit your schedule without waiting for insurance authorizations or approvals.

For Me, the Therapist:

  • More Time for Therapy, Less for Paperwork: Without insurance companies involved, I can focus more on your well-being and less on administrative tasks.

  • Better Focus on You: Without third-party restrictions, I can focus on providing the best care possible, regardless of insurance constraints.

  • Simplicity and Transparency: This allows for clear, upfront pricing and reduces any confusion about costs.

This model allows me to provide the highest level of personalized care without the burden of insurance-related limitations.

How do I know if we will be a good fit?

I have experience working with clients from all walks of life with a broad range of concerns. Please reach out for a consultation, regardless of your unique situation, to see if we could be a good fit.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session will be 90-minutes to allow enough time to get to know each other and discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. We'll talk about your goals, concerns, and any background information that might be relevant to your treatment. It's a collaborative process, and I will encourage you to ask any questions about the therapy process or my approach. This session is designed to establish a strong foundation for future work.

Do you specialize in any particular type of therapy?

Yes, I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), but I also tailor my approach to the unique needs of each client, and have training in several additional evidence-based therapy modalities. If you're unsure whether your concerns match my skillset, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss how my approach could best support you.

How long will I need therapy?

The duration of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients see improvement in a few sessions, while others may need longer-term support. During our sessions, we’ll regularly assess your progress openly and collaboratively, and adjust your treatment plan to ensure you’re receiving the support you need. Together, we’ll decide on the best timeline based on your goals.

How do you handle confidentiality?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share with me in sessions will remain private, with a few exceptions. We will review these limits during our first session to ensure you understand how confidentiality works in therapy.

What happens if I need support between sessions?

If you need immediate support between sessions, please reach out to me via email, and I will respond as soon as possible. However, please note that I am not available for 24/7 emergency support. In case of urgent need, I encourage you to contact a crisis hotline or visit the nearest emergency room.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an exploratory consultation by contacting me directly via email or by clicking the link below. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible to confirm a time that works for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you miss an appointment without prior notice, you are responsible for the cost of the session. This policy helps ensure that time slots can be made available to other clients who may need them.
